Play Me, I'm Yours

Luke Jerram created a project called "Play Me, I'm Yours." It's a public music project that puts pianos in highly populated cultural areas around the world, encouraging people to make music in the streets. In the age of crowdsourcing and social networks, this takes it to a whole new level, all in the offline world. Check out his site to track all the different locations, and peep the youtube link to see a nine year old virtuoso at work in one of the "Play Me, I'm Yours" location.

Some Thoughts On Posterous

I love posterous. I really do. I've integrated it into my custom domain, iamdz.com. I've added Google Analytics. All of that was done very easily, without any hassle. And the feature I love the most is that it's just so easy to post. All I do is email post@posterous.com and add pictures, links, youtube clips in the body of the email, and posterous does the rest. It embeds video automatically (again, no need for embed code, just the URL is sufficient), uploads images automatically, and creates a shortened URL for Twitter... all automatically.

I've integrated it with Twitter, Facebook, and have the option to link Flickr on it as well. It even replicates the posts to my personal blog, iamdz.net. But now that I have iamdz.com directly linked to posterous, I'm considering using iamdz.net for something else. So, whenever I see something on the web, have a quick thought to post, or post a picture up on the blog, I just email posterous.

So simple, hard not to love.

A White House With Greater Transparency

obama_indy.jpg
Obama as Indiana Jones in Cairo, Egypt. Original here.

It might not seem like much, but this current administration is really taking advantage of social media for a "greater sense of transparency in the American government." Personally, I just like seeing Obama in an Indiana Jones-esque hat, and a glimpse of "Special Assistant to the President", fellow Korean and fellow Wolverine, Eugene Kang.

$414,000/Week Is Not Enough

The Barcelona star striker, Samuel Eto'o, is being offered £250,000/week salary for the next four years from Manchester City. If you google "250,000 pounds to dollars" you'll get 414,000. A week. That will make him the highest paid footballer, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo's absurd £212,000/week salary from Real Madrid.

But, Eto'o will have none of that. He is demanding more, or threatening to stay on in Barcelona and wait out the remainder of his contract so he can be a free agent next year. £250,000/week is indeed too little. I mean, almost-half-a-million a week? At least make it an even half million a week and I might consider it.
